ELECTRONIC HARDWARE ENGINEER

General Description:
Candidate will be involved in new product development of portable and in-line instrumentation projects at a leading, water quality instrumentation manufacturer. Candidate will be involved in research, development, analysis, release of products to manufacturing, and production support. Candidate must be able to perform sensitive analog and mixed signal circuit design and perform trouble shooting with a high degree of technical competence. Candidate must be able to work effectively with firmware development engineers and provide technical support for production, sales and office personnel when requested. Candidate must be self-motivated, require little supervision, and be a multi-tasking team player with a hands-on approach. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to participate in the full development cycle of projects from concept to production.

    REQUIREMENTS:
  • BSEE (MSEE preferred) with a minimum of 5 years experience as an analog/mixed signal design engineer for portable and in-line instrumentation systems using op-amps, transistors, microcontrollers, ADCs, DACs, and sensitive signal conditioning circuits
  • Basic knowledge of firmware development.
  • Familiarity with schematic capture, layout and simulation tools
  • Experience in low power system design preferred
  • Experience in the fields of Water treatment and water quality instrumentation is a plus
  • Project management skills
  • Candidate must have strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to work with people at all levels
  • Candidate must be fluent in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills

January 18, 2013:
FIRMWARE ENGINEER

General Description:
This work involves hands-on design, development, and testing of high-level software programs for use in self contained, stand-alone fully integrated systems, as well as development of low level, real-time embedded code that processes incoming signals from multiple sensor technologies.

In this role, the candidate will be technically responsible for firmware development and project planning for state-of-the-art water quality measurement systems and handheld instruments.

The candidate will construct software simulations from verbal instructions; work with algorithm developers to take “white board” concepts and develop them into software prototypes, and modify algorithms and/or software as necessary when implementation problems are encountered.

The ideal candidate will be a key contributor to concept development and code execution.

    REQUIREMENTS:
  • BSEE with 1-5 years experience
  • Firmware background in embedded code development
  • Extensive code development experience using the C language and knowledge on ARM7, MSP430 and PIC microcontroller
  • Working knowledge of analog and digital hardware
  • Ability to work on different projects at the same time (Multi-task)
  • Python and networking protocol is highly desirable

Candidate will work with junior level engineers, interns, management and marketing to complete projects in a team environment. Candidate must have strong communication and problem solving skills.

Must be a team player who can work from a high level “wish list” to take a concept and run with it, understand and implement algorithms, and develop software to correct, analyze and exploit data.

  • Familiarity with circuit stability analysis, high impedance noise isolation, feedback controller design, and mixed signal system design methodology
  • Familiarity with developing firmware and drivers in C programming language to program microcontroller peripherals such as ADCs, DACs, comparators, PWM, etc.
  • Familiarity with schematic capture, layout and simulation CAD tools
  • Experience in low power system design preferred
  • Experience in the Water treatment and water quality instrumentation field is a plus
  • Project management skills on schedule planning, project development plan, preparation of design specifications, analyses, and documentation are a plus
  • Candidate must have strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to work with people at all levels
  • Candidate must be fluent in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills
